Temporarily reduce the load and torque in the system’s power train, as well as the current surge of the motor during startup.

Variable Frequency Drives


Variable frequency drives, or VFDs, are best used in applications where the speed of the fan or pump needs to be varied to deliver optimal air quality.

•  Heat Generation: Components of VFDs are “always on” and constantly controlling frequency, making them inherently hotter than soft starters.

If an overcurrent event causes a short circuit and thermal overload of the motor, molded case circuit breakers like GuardEon can help protect the motor, controls and wiring. In the event of an overspeed condition on the motor caused by an un-primed pump that is not pumping fluid, a circuit breaker can sense this condition and alert the operator that something isn’t working properly.

Additional Products for Your Pump and Compressor Applications




This single unit incorporates contactors, switches, pilot lights and drive bypass functionality to control the pump or compressor.



Unlike fixed speed drives, fan and pump drives are optimized for variable torque drives and can monitor energy consumption to increase energy efficiency. Fan and pump drives can also detect broken fan belts and send appropriate notifications via communications protocols.


Motor Starters - OEM

Manually switch motors on and off, and provide overcurrent (fuseless) protection against short circuit, overload and phase failures.





These components are critical to keep operators and maintenance personnel both aware and safe.


Relays and Timers - OEM

These components would be used where sensors are needed to alert the pump to turn on. Indicator lights are needed to alert operators and maintenance personnel about the status of the equipment.
