Challenge:
A coal mining company in the Dominican Republic contacted a range of panel builders to deliver a cost-efficient switch gear panel for their operations. They were looking for new approaches to reduce expenses while still maintaining the rigorous performance and operational standards needed for harsh mining environments.
Solution:
Our application engineers worked closely with their power panel customer to test and deliver a new low voltage switchgear with a novel shared bus bar configuration. This new approach allowed the back-to-back installation of two switchgear sections, with both units sharing the same main bus bar.
Outcome:
The panel builder partner won the project after demonstrating that our back-to-back panel design could save the coal plant $ 2,250 per line-up, totaling up to $ 20,000 across their entire operation.
