Electrical Monitoring & Control System

Electrical Monitoring & Control System

Answering customers' need for improved energy management, reliability, productivity, and efficiency

The ECS solution leverages and maximizes ABB’s electrification products' portfolio across medium and low voltage segments, providing a truly scalar and versatile electrical system monitoring and control solutions across the customer spectrum.

  • Consolidated control and distribution of all information from all integrated intelligent devices in a plant or site.
  • Control in the event of unstable power supply from grid or disruption of power supply in plant that may lead to blackouts and costly, unplanned shutdowns (power management)

The deployed products are diverse in nature and include ABB Ability zenon, AC500, AC800M together with ABB Relion, SWICOM, 3rd party devices, Ekip Up units, meters etc. deployed in medium and low voltage switchgear and associated systems, using communication protocols/standards such as IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 60870-5, Profibus and OPC DA/UA.

Features and benefits

  • Scalable, integrable and interoperable
  • Enables customers to strategize, operate and maintain their electrification systems in a highly productive, reliable, efficient manner
  • Whether generating or consuming power, the economic benefits of an ECS can run into millions of dollars gained in increased production or saved in reduced operating costs

Scope

  • Integrated electrical process monitoring, control, and management of all data from all integrated intelligent devices in a plant or site.
  • Automatic control in the event of unstable power supply from grid or disruption of power supply in plant, preventing blackouts and costly unplanned shutdowns
  • Substation HMI (process displays, alarms, events, trends, disturbance records, energy reporting, historian etc.)
  • Supervisory control
  • Power Management: Load-shedding, power sharing, synchronization
  • Motor restart and re-acceleration
  • Condition monitoring, Asset management
