ReliaHome Smart Panel App
Service panel upgrade avoidance
ABB's Panel Guard technology eliminates the need for costly electrical panel and utility service upgrades and enables you to add any electric appliance – like electrical vehicle chargers, induction cooktops and heat pumps – while staying within your home's electrical limits. With intuitive scheduling and real-time energy insights, gain transparency and control over your energy use.
Optimize and extend battery backup
Extend your battery runway… ABB’s Smart Power Mode extends battery runtime for your solar + storage system during outages by dynamically managing loads while providing access to all connected circuits. You can see your real-time and historical energy use, customize circuit priorities around the battery's state of charge and schedule energy use.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What types of loads does the ReliaHome Smart Panel control?
Users see the most advantage in off-grid capability and extended runtime when only large loads like air conditioners, pool pumps, and EV charging equipment are controlled. It is not necessary to control all circuits with the smart panel.
Never use the RelaiHome Smart panel to control equipment related to life safety, such as fire alarms, medical equipment, or elevators.
Is the ReliaHome Smart Panel compatible with my electrical panel?
Yes! It is compatible with any brand of electrical panel.
Is the ReliaHome Smart Panel compatible with my battery backup?
Yes! It is compatible with any home battery, including generators and solar backup systems. In addition, the ReliaHome Smart Panel has state of charge integrations with several major battery manufacturers, which can extend the runtime of these systems. Ask your ABB distributor for more information.
What is Panel Guard technology?
Panel Guard, available in the ReliaHome Smart Panel app, marries intelligent energy management with the circuit-level visibility and control offered by the ReliaHome Smart Panel. By dynamically managing loads to stay within the home’s electrical limits, it eliminates the need for costly panel replacements or utility service upgrades when adding any high-demand appliances, like electric vehicle chargers, electric water heaters and heat pumps.
What is Off-Grid Manager?
Off-Grid Manager helps extend the runtime of a home's backup battery during a grid outage and prevents the energy storage system from being overloaded.
Off-Grid Manager can be configured to shed individual circuits under the following circumstances:
- As soon as a grid outage is detected.
- As soon as the power demanded by circuits in the house exceeds a power limit (this prevents the battery's inverter from tripping).
- Once the state of charge of a home's battery decreases (available with select battery brands).
Compared to traditional battery backup without Lumin, these features make it possible to connect most, or even all, of the circuits in a home to the backed-up electrical panel, without the need for a battery and inverter large enough to run everything in the house simultaneously. The system owner can use the Lumin app to choose which circuits receive backup power and Lumin will ensure that the backup system is not overloaded.
What are the “Uncontrolled Loads” noted in the ReliaHome Smart Panel app?
The ReliaHome Smart Panel measures all the power being used in an electrical panel. It also directly measures the consumption of the individual circuits under control. There will be loads that are not controlled by the smart panel and so are not directly measured but are part of the total consumption of the electrical panel.
"Uncontrolled Loads" is a calculated value: the consumption of individual circuits is subtracted from the whole house consumption, resulting in a consumption value for everything that is not directly connected.
Where is the ReliaHome Smart Panel made?
The ReliaHome Smart Panel is designed, engineered and assembled in Charlottesville, Virgina.
How long does it take to install a ReliaHome Smart Panel?
Installation can take as little as an hour and as long as 2.5 hours, depending on the existing electrical panel. It comes pre-wired and labeled to make install as simple as possible.
